The Olivieri 1882 texture turns 10: when identity becomes a deliberate choice

The Olivieri 1882 texture turns 10: when identity becomes a deliberate choice

Ten years ago we knew only one thing: we wanted to grow.

We didn’t have all the answers yet.
We didn’t have a complete roadmap.
We didn’t have absolute certainties.

But we had a rare clarity, and perhaps something even more important:
we knew perfectly well what we didn’t want to be.

We didn’t want to get lost in the noise of the market.
We didn’t want to be “just another one of many”.
We didn’t want to grow by betraying who we were.

And above all: we didn’t want to build a growth made of compromises.

Growing without losing one’s voice

In 2016, Olivieri 1882 was already a story over a century long.
But being a historic company is not enough to define an identity.

At a certain point, to continue evolving, you need more than just a good product.
You need a language.
You need a direction.

In those years, the question was simple and huge at the same time:

How can we tell the story of craftsmanship in a true, contemporary, distinctive way?

We wanted an identity that spoke of:

  • real craftsmanship, not just a façade

  • tradition, but without nostalgia

  • quality, without rhetoric

  • ambition, without losing authenticity

Not an aesthetic.
A stance.

The texture didn't start as an exercise in style

The Olivieri 1882 texture was born this way.

Not as a decorative element.
Not as a graphic embellishment.
Not as a “cute pattern” for packaging.

It was born as a statement.

In a market that communicated panettone and leavened products in an often similar way — with repeated codes, predictable images, overlapping languages — we chose a different path:

building our own language.

More essential.
More distinctive.
More courageous.

The first real change in the rules of the game

Those months in 2016 were a turning point.

In the meetings with Ey Studio, with Marco Corona, with Nicola Olivieri, we made a precise choice:

to put clarity above all else.

Clarity about who we were.
Clarity about what we wanted to build.
Clarity about the type of brand we wanted to become.

Because a brand is not what it “seems” to be.
It is what it decides to be, every day, consistently.

Ten years of evolution, with a common thread

Over these ten years, we have changed direction multiple times.

We have adjusted our aim.
We have questioned decisions we made.
We have learned, made mistakes, and started over.

But there has always been a common thread, a constant that has never faltered:

don't chase the market. Try, in our own small way, to shift it.

Being disruptive, for us, has never meant making noise.

It has meant:

  • making uncomfortable choices

  • accepting to be, at times, misunderstood

  • choosing slower paths

  • staying true to a vision

Not for fashion.
But for identity.

Today that texture tells much more than a design

Today, ten years later, we look at that texture and don’t just see a graphic mark.

We see the beginning of a journey of awareness.
The moment when we stopped asking ourselves:

“How does the market work?”

and started asking ourselves:

“What kind of market do we want to help create?”

Because identity is never just design.

Identity is a stance.

A thank you to those who pushed us to be more ourselves

In these ten years we have learned that growing is a responsibility.

And that consistency is not a limitation:
it is the highest form of freedom.

For this reason, today, we say thank you to those who at the time had the courage to push us to be:

clearer,
more radical,
more ourselves.

Because sometimes the first step to truly growing is not doing more.

It is choosing who you want to be.
