Ours is the best handmade Colomba cake of Italy in 2019!
This has been proclaimed by Gambero Rosso, after the blind tasting of 20 Italian handmade Colomba cakes, which were made by the finest rising masters.
It’s a deep pride for us to receive the most coveted award for our product, that is thus described:
“A beauty queen among the Colomba cakes, it’s slender, assembled with well separated wings and made with two different kinds of dough. So, it’s a Colomba cake that stands out with its optimum rising and a light crunchy glaze, which is enriched with peeled almonds and large sprinkles. The dough is deep yellow, the rising is dynamic and characterised by a lively alveolation, the baking is proper. On the nose you can perceive hints of tasty butter, flour, yeast, vanilla and good pastry. All these fragrances are very peculiar, gentle and reassuring. The texture is silky, fluffy and easy to chew. Even though we can’t recognise the candied fruit, we can perceive the citrusy note. It has a balanced and full flavour that highlights an excellent raw material. It’s an elegant, comfortable, fresh and – we reassert it – very balanced cake. According to the panel, Colomba Olivieri 1882 is, by far, this year’s best Colomba cake.”
